Roshan was awarded the Telecom Asia Award for Best Community Telecom Project at the Telecom Asia Awards for the innovative M-Paisa, Afghanistan's first mobile money transfer service. Roshan was recognized for contributing to the socio-economic growth in Afghanistan and promoting financial inclusion through salary payments for the unbanked.
Best Mobile Money for the Unbanked Service, GSMA, February 2011
Roshan, together with Vodafone received the Best Mobile Money for the Unbanked Award at the Global Mobile Awards 2011 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. This award, from the GSMA, recognizes the Vodafone's group service for having made the most significant impact on unbanked customers, with 22 million customers in seven developing markets over the last year.

Roshan received a CommsMEA Award for Most Innovative Non-Voice Service for M-Paisa at the CommsMEA Awards for M-Paisa, Afghanistan's first and only money mobile transfer product. M-Paisa enables the transfer of funds through a mobile phone in a quick, easy, safe and cost-effective manner, for peer-to-peer transfer, repayment of microfinance loans, purchase of airtime, and salary disbursement. Judges were particularly impressed with Roshan's dedication to provide vital mobile service in a market more challenging than most.
