Participating CharitiesThe Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN)AKDN is a group of development agencies that work in social, cultural and economic development, primarily in the poorest parts of Asia and Africa. AKDN makes long-term commitments to these regions, with the goal of helping the poor to improve the quality of their lives and eventually become self-reliant. Enfants Afghans & The French Medical Institute For Children (FMIC)FMIC was built in 2005 with the support of Enfants Afghans to provide Afghans with equal access to quality health care, including specialist care, to invest in the Afghan healthcare system and to build Afghan medical capacity. Through a welfare fund FMIC ensures that the marginalized and under-privileged can access care irrespective of their ability to pay. Together with the Aga Khan University Hospital in Pakistan, it addresses the acute shortage of healthcare services in Afghanistan through an academic and skills training program. |
